Porlasztáson

Porlasztáson is a Hungarian term that translates to "atomization" in English. It refers to the process of breaking down a bulk liquid into a fine spray of droplets. This is achieved by forcing the liquid through a nozzle or orifice under pressure or by other means that create shear forces. The primary goal of atomization is to increase the surface area of the liquid, which enhances its interaction with the surrounding environment, typically air.

The effectiveness of atomization is often measured by the droplet size distribution. Smaller droplets mean a larger surface area to volume ratio, leading to faster evaporation, more efficient mixing, or increased surface area for chemical reactions. Various types of atomizers exist, each designed for specific applications and achieving different droplet sizes. These include pressure atomizers, airblast atomizers, ultrasonic atomizers, and rotary atomizers.

Atomization plays a crucial role in numerous industrial and everyday applications. In combustion engines, it is essential for efficiently burning fuel. In agriculture, it allows for the uniform application of pesticides and fertilizers. Other applications include spray drying of food and pharmaceuticals, aerosol generation for medical treatments, painting and coating processes, and humidification systems.
