Polymermolekül
Polymermolekül refers to a macromolecule composed of many repeating subunits, known as monomers. These monomers are linked together by covalent bonds to form a long chain. Polymers can be naturally occurring, such as proteins, nucleic acids, and polysaccharides, or synthetic, like polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride. The properties of a polymer are determined by the type of monomers, the length of the polymer chain, and how the chains are arranged. Polymerization is the process by which monomers are joined to form polymers. This process can occur through various mechanisms, including addition polymerization and condensation polymerization. Addition polymerization involves the direct joining of monomers without the loss of any atoms. Condensation polymerization, on the other hand, releases a small molecule, such as water, during the formation of the polymer chain. The study of polymers is known as polymer science or polymer chemistry, which explores their synthesis, structure, properties, and applications. Polymers find widespread use in various industries, including plastics, textiles, adhesives, coatings, and biomedical devices, due to their diverse range of physical and chemical characteristics.
