Podmienky

Podmienky is a plural noun in Slovak (and the related Czech word podmínky) meaning conditions, terms, requirements or stipulations. The singular form is podmienka (Slovak) or podmínka (Czech). The term refers to the set of circumstances under which something applies, or to the requirements that must be met for a result to occur.

In legal and commercial contexts, podmienky describe the terms governing an agreement or service. Common expressions include obchodné podmienky (terms of sale), zmluvné podmienky (contractual terms), and podmienky používania (terms of use). They may outline rights, duties, limitations, and procedures that affect parties’ actions.

In everyday language, podmienky can denote weather or other situational factors relevant to a decision or activity, for example podmienky počasia (weather conditions) or podmienky na cestu (conditions for travel). They also appear in discussions of prerequisites or eligibility, such as podmienky pre vstup alebo štúdium.

In science and mathematics, podmienky describe prerequisites that must hold for a statement, model, or experiment to be valid. Common phrases include podmienky pre platnosť tvrdenia (conditions for the validity of a statement) and podmienky nutné a postačujúce (necessary and sufficient conditions).
