Photcounts

Photcounts refers to the discrete, countable units of light detected by a sensor. In essence, it's the raw signal received from a photon, which is the fundamental particle of light. When photons strike a photosensitive surface, such as a pixel in a digital camera sensor or a detector in a scientific instrument, they can generate an electrical charge. The magnitude of this charge is often proportional to the number of photons that hit that specific location.
