Pglykoproteiini
Pglykoproteiini refers to a group of proteins that are glycosylated, meaning they have carbohydrate chains attached to them. These carbohydrate chains, known as glycans, can be attached either to the nitrogen atom of an asparagine residue (N-linked glycosylation) or to the oxygen atom of a serine or threonine residue (O-linked glycosylation). The process of adding these glycans to proteins occurs primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus of eukaryotic cells.
The presence and structure of these glycans can significantly influence the protein's properties and functions. They
Alterations in protein glycosylation patterns have been associated with various diseases, including cancer and inflammatory disorders.
