Patriarchie

Patriarchy is a social system in which men hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. In the family, fathers or father-figures hold authority over women and children. This can also extend to control over female relatives. In this system, the eldest male is often the head of the family.

The concept of patriarchy is often used to explain gender inequality. Proponents of feminist theory suggest that patriarchal systems are the root cause of women's oppression and that they limit opportunities for women in various spheres of life, including the workplace, politics, and personal relationships. Critics of this view sometimes argue that the term is too broad or that it oversimplifies complex social dynamics.

Many societies have undergone changes that challenge traditional patriarchal structures, leading to shifts in gender roles and power dynamics.
