Parmenides was a Greek philosopher born in Elis, a city in ancient Greece, around 515 BC. His father was a nobleman, and Parmenides was himself originally destined for a life of politics. However, he was taken by a mysterious tour guide to visit the three roads of knowledge: being, non-being, and the way of the truth, which turned him towards philosophy.
