Parabolireflektorin is a Finnish term that translates to "parabolic reflector" in English. It refers to a reflector that has the shape of a paraboloid, a three-dimensional surface generated by rotating a parabola around its axis of symmetry. This unique geometric shape gives parabolic reflectors their remarkable ability to focus or collimate electromagnetic waves, such as light or radio waves, to a single point or to create a parallel beam.

The fundamental principle behind a parabolic reflector's operation lies in its focal point. Any wave that strikes the inside surface of the paraboloid and originates from or is directed towards the focal point will be reflected in a specific manner.
