Papírméretek refer to the standardized sizes of paper used globally. The most common system is ISO 216, which is based on the A-series. The A0 size is defined as having an area of one square meter, with a specific aspect ratio. Subsequent sizes in the A-series are derived by halving the longer dimension of the previous size. For example, A1 is half the size of A0, A2 is half the size of A1, and so on. This system ensures that when a paper is cut in half parallel to its shorter side, it maintains the same aspect ratio as the original.

The A-series includes commonly used sizes like A4 (210 x 297 mm), which is the standard for office documents, letters, and printing in most parts of the world. Other A-series sizes include A3, A5, A6, and smaller formats.

In addition to the A-series, ISO 216 also defines the B-series and C-series. The B-series is used for posters, wall charts, and some book covers, with B4 being larger than A4 but smaller than B3. The C-series is primarily used for envelopes, where C4 is designed to hold an A4 sheet unfolded.

North America uses a different set of paper sizes, commonly known as the North American or ANSI standard. These include Letter (8.5 x 11 inches), Legal (8.5 x 14 inches), and Tabloid (11 x 17 inches). While the ISO system is dominant internationally, these North American standards remain prevalent in the United States, Canada, and parts of Mexico. The choice of paper size can impact printing, copying, and document presentation.
