Pantonecode is a standardized color identification system developed by Pantone, Inc., a global leader in color management. It is widely used in various industries, including fashion, design, printing, and manufacturing, to ensure consistent color reproduction across different mediums. The system assigns a unique numerical code to each color, which can be used to specify and match colors accurately.

The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is the most well-known version of Pantonecode. It was introduced in 1963 and has since become the industry standard for color communication. The PMS uses a combination of letters and numbers to identify colors, such as "PMS 18-3718C." The first two digits represent the color family, the next two digits represent the shade within that family, and the letter "C" indicates that the color is a coated ink.

Pantonecode is not limited to the PMS; it also includes other color systems, such as the Pantone Solid Coated (PSC) and Pantone Solid Uncoated (PSU) systems. These systems are used for solid colors, such as those found in textiles and plastics. The Pantone Formula Guide (PF) is another system that provides a range of colors for use in various applications.

The Pantonecode system is continually updated to include new colors and improve color matching accuracy. The Pantone Color Institute, a division of Pantone, Inc., is responsible for developing and maintaining the Pantonecode system. It conducts extensive research to ensure that the colors are accurate and consistent across different mediums and lighting conditions.
