PSLVC7

The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C7 was the seventh flight of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle program. Launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), PSLV C7 lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on January 10, 2007. The primary objective of this mission was to deploy multiple satellites into their intended orbits.

PSLV C7 successfully placed into orbit the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS-P5), also known as Cartosat-1. This satellite was designed for high-resolution terrain mapping and stereoscopic imaging. Additionally, the mission carried three smaller international payloads: LAPAN-TUBSAT from Indonesia, a microsatellite for remote sensing and disaster monitoring; RUBIN-2 from Germany, a technology demonstration satellite; and PEASSAT from Belgium, a nanosatellite for Earth observation.

The successful launch of PSLV C7 demonstrated ISRO's capability in launching multiple satellites on a single mission, a significant achievement in its space program. The mission's success further solidified PSLV's reputation as a reliable workhorse for launching a variety of payloads into different orbits. The data and imagery acquired by Cartosat-1 and the other payloads contributed to various scientific and developmental applications.
