Püsimagnetilised refers to a type of magnet that retains its magnetism without an external magnetic field being applied. These magnets are also known as permanent magnets. They are made from materials that are naturally magnetic or have been magnetized by exposure to a strong magnetic field. The magnetic properties of these materials are due to the alignment of their atomic magnetic moments. When these moments are aligned in a particular direction, the material exhibits a net magnetic field.

The strength and duration of the magnetism in a permanent magnet depend on the material composition and the manufacturing process. Common materials used for permanent magnets include iron, nickel, cobalt, and various alloys such as neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) and samarium-cobalt (SmCo). NdFeB magnets are known for their exceptionally strong magnetic fields, while SmCo magnets are favored for their high-temperature stability. Ferrite magnets, made from iron oxide, are a more economical option, though less powerful.

Permanent magnets are ubiquitous in modern technology. They are found in electric motors, generators, loudspeakers, magnetic storage devices like hard drives, and various consumer products such as refrigerators, toys, and closures. Their ability to generate a magnetic field without a continuous power source makes them indispensable for many applications where efficiency and reliability are paramount.
