Ozmolalitást

Ozmolalitást is a thermodynamic property that describes the total concentration of osmotically active solutes in a solution. Osmotically active solutes are particles that can contribute to osmotic pressure, meaning they can draw water across a semipermeable membrane. This includes ions, such as sodium and chloride, and larger molecules like glucose and urea. The unit of ozmolalitást is osmoles per kilogram of solvent (osmol/kg).

It is a measure of the number of solute particles, regardless of their chemical nature. For example, if a substance dissociates in solution, each resulting ion is counted as a separate particle contributing to the ozmolalitást. This differs from molarity, which measures the number of moles of a substance.
