Oxidációkat

Oxidációkat refers to oxidation reactions. In chemistry, oxidation is a process that involves the loss of electrons by a molecule, atom, or ion. This loss of electrons typically results in an increase in the oxidation state of the species being oxidized. Conversely, reduction is the process where a species gains electrons, leading to a decrease in its oxidation state. Oxidation and reduction always occur simultaneously; one cannot happen without the other. Together, these are known as redox reactions.

Common examples of oxidation include the rusting of iron, where iron atoms lose electrons to form iron oxides, and combustion, where fuels react with oxygen, losing electrons. In biological systems, cellular respiration is a series of oxidation reactions that release energy from glucose. The term "oxidation" originally referred to reactions involving oxygen, as oxygen is a strong oxidizing agent. However, the definition has broadened to encompass any process involving the loss of electrons, even in the absence of oxygen. Oxidizing agents are substances that cause oxidation by accepting electrons from another species.
