Objem

Objem is a term used in Czech and Slovak to denote volume or capacity. In general language and technical contexts, it refers to the amount of space occupied by a three‑dimensional object or the capacity of a container.

In science and mathematics, objem is the volume of a solid: the measure of how much 3D space it occupies. Units include cubic meters (m^3), liters (L), and cubic centimeters (cm^3); 1 m^3 equals 1000 L, and 1 L equals 1000 cm^3.

Formulas for common shapes include: rectangular prism V = a × b × h; cylinder V = π r^2 h; sphere V = 4/3 π r^3; cone V = 1/3 π r^2 h. These expressions provide the objem for standard geometric objects when their dimensions are known.

Objem is also used to describe the capacity of containers and vessels, such as tanks, bottles, or reservoirs, indicating how much they can hold.

In automotive terminology, objem motoru, or engine displacement, describes the total volume of all cylinders and is expressed in liters or cubic centimeters (for example, 2.0 L or 2000 cm^3). It relates to the size of the engine and its fuel-air intake potential, but it does not by itself determine power output.
