Nyirokfolyadék

Nyirokfolyadék, also known as lymph, is a clear to yellowish fluid that circulates throughout the lymphatic system. This system is a network of vessels, nodes, and organs that plays a crucial role in the body's immune defense and fluid balance. Nyirokfolyadék is formed from interstitial fluid, which is the fluid that surrounds cells in the body's tissues. As blood circulates, plasma components, including water, small proteins, and waste products, leak out of capillaries into the surrounding tissues. This fluid then becomes interstitial fluid.

The lymphatic vessels collect this interstitial fluid, now called lymph, and transport it through the lymphatic system. Lymph is a vital component of the immune system as it carries lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, and other immune cells. These cells help to identify and destroy pathogens such as bacteria and viruses, as well as abnormal cells like cancer cells. Lymph nodes, which are small, bean-shaped structures located along the lymphatic vessels, filter the lymph, removing foreign substances and housing immune cells.

In addition to its immune function, the lymphatic system and nyirokfolyadék are essential for maintaining fluid balance. The lymphatic system returns excess fluid and proteins that have leaked from the bloodstream back into circulation, preventing tissue swelling (edema). The movement of lymph is propelled by muscle contractions, breathing, and the pulsation of nearby arteries, as it does not have a central pump like the heart. When this system is compromised, it can lead to significant health issues.
