NyAlesund
Nyalesund is a Norwegian settlement located on the island of Spitsbergen in the Svalbard archipelago. Situated on the shores of Kongsfjorden, it is one of the world's northernmost permanently inhabited communities. Historically, Nyalesund was a coal mining town, established by the American Arctic Coal Company in 1906. The Norwegian company Store Norske Spitsbergen Grubekompani later took over operations. Coal mining ceased in 1963, and the settlement has since transitioned into a significant international research center.
Today, Nyalesund hosts a permanent population that fluctuates seasonally, primarily consisting of scientists and support staff
