Novákovi

Novákovi is a term that refers to a minority ethnic group or regional identity found primarily in two Slavic countries: Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Also known as Moravíci, the term "Novákovi" likely originates from the Slovak word "nováčik," meaning "newcomer" or "immigrant."

Historically, the Novákovi people inhabited the regions of southern Slovakia and northwestern Hungary. Over time, they assimilated into the dominant cultures of these countries. However, their distinct identity and regional heritage are preserved through folklore, traditions, and customs passed down through generations.

The Novákovi people have a unique culture shaped by their shared history and geography. Their traditions are characterized by folk music, dance, and handicrafts. The main occupations of the Novákovi people include agriculture, craftsmanship, and overseeing communal lands.

As distinct regional identities, the Novákovi and Moravíci people have a rich cultural heritage that contributes to the tapestry of the Slavic people. Studies suggest that the name "Novákovi" may be a result of conversion in the past from the now extinct Eastern Slavic tribe of Vélite and that "Novákovi" are also ethnically closely related to Slovaks. This might be misleading, further research is needed to unravel the complex ties between tribes of Slavs.
