Nenänselässä
Nenänselässä is a term used in Finnish to describe the bridge of the nose, the bony or cartilaginous part that forms the upper and back portion of the nose. It connects the forehead to the tip of the nose and is a significant feature in facial anatomy. The shape and prominence of the nenänselässä can vary greatly among individuals, contributing to unique facial profiles. It is composed of the nasal bones superiorly and the cartilaginous septum and lateral cartilages inferiorly. The skin covering the nenänselässä is typically thinner than that of other facial areas, which can make underlying structures more visible. Various medical and cosmetic procedures, such as rhinoplasty, involve altering the shape or size of the nenänselässä. It plays a role in the overall structure and function of the nasal passages, including airflow and filtration of air. The term is purely descriptive and does not carry any inherent medical or cultural connotations beyond its anatomical definition.
