Neitaran

Neitaran refers to an ethnolinguistic group and their territory in a fictional archipelago. The term encompasses the people, language, and cultural practices associated with the coastal and island communities of the Neitaran region.

The Neitaran homeland comprises about a dozen main islands and many islets off the eastern seaboard of Valara. The landscape includes coral reefs, mangroves, and terraced hill country. A maritime climate with wet and dry seasons shapes livelihoods, while waterways link settlements.

Society is organized around village clusters that form semi-autonomous city-states. Leadership typically lies with a council or hereditary chief, with guilds influencing trade and craft. The Neitaran language belongs to the hypothetical Aldranic family; it features agglutinative morphology, complex honorifics, and a syllabic script used in community records and religious texts.

Economic activity emphasizes sustainable fishing, sea farming, and agroforestry, supplemented by boatbuilding and crafts. Trade with neighboring regions moves textiles, metalwork, and produce along established sea routes. Cultural life includes oral storytelling, seasonal festivals, and music centered on percussion and wind instruments.
