Mýrdal

Mýrdal is a valley region in southern Iceland along the south coast. It centers on the Mýrdalur valley and is traversed by the Ring Road (Route 1), linking coastal communities such as Vík í Mýrdal with inland areas. To the north of the valley lies the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, which covers the Katla volcanic system. The coastal zone features dramatic landscapes, including the Reynisfjara black-sand beach near Vík and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks, as well as the Dyrhólaey promontory.
