Murskaamot

Murskaamot are crushing facilities used in mining and quarrying to mechanically reduce rock and ore to smaller sizes for subsequent processing. They form a key part of the mineral processing chain and are typically located at or near mine sites or processing plants. The main purpose is to produce material with a size distribution suitable for grinding, flotation, or other separation steps.

A murskaamo typically includes a feed system, a primary crusher, one or more secondary or tertiary crushers, screens, conveyors, and a stockpile area. After extraction, material is fed to the primary crusher, which reduces large blocks to more manageable sizes. The output is then sent to secondary and tertiary crushers and classified by size with screens. Oversized material may be recirculated for further reduction.

Common crusher types used in murskaamot are jaw crushers and gyratory crushers as primary units, with cone crushers and impact crushers used for secondary and tertiary duties. The choice of equipment depends on rock hardness, feed size, and desired product size. In many installations, crushers operate in closed circuit with screens to control the size distribution of the final product.

In operation, murskaamot provide a steady, controlled feed to downstream mills or flotation circuits. They require regular maintenance due to wear from abrasive rock, and measures are taken to manage dust, noise, and safety, including guarding and safe startup procedures.
