Moreenikerrokset, often referred to as till in English, are a type of glacial deposit formed directly by ice. They are characterized by their unsorted and unstratified nature, meaning they contain a mixture of sediment sizes ranging from fine clay and silt to pebbles, cobbles, and even boulders. This heterogeneous composition is a result of the ice's ability to pick up and transport debris of all sizes as it moves across the landscape.

When glaciers melt or retreat, the debris embedded within the ice is deposited. The melting process does not sort the material by size or density, leading to the formation of moreen.
