Mongolinkielet, also known as Mongolian languages, are a group of languages spoken by the Mongols, a nomadic people originating from the steppes of Central Asia. The Mongolian language family includes several distinct languages, each with its own unique characteristics and dialects. The most widely spoken Mongolian language is Khalkha, which is the official language of Mongolia. Other notable Mongolian languages include Buryat, Kalmyk, and Oirat. These languages share a common origin and have a rich history, with influences from both Turkic and Mongolic language families. Mongolian languages are written using the traditional Mongolian script, which is an abugida, or alphasyllabary, consisting of 30 letters. The languages are primarily spoken in Mongolia, Russia, and China, and are known for their complex grammar and rich vocabulary. Despite their distinctiveness, Mongolian languages are mutually intelligible to varying degrees, allowing for communication among speakers of different Mongolian languages.
