Mischungsveränderungen

Mischungsveränderungen, also known as phase changes or changes of state, refer to the physical processes where a substance transitions from one state of matter to another. These changes occur when energy, typically in the form of heat, is added to or removed from a substance at a constant temperature. The most common states of matter involved are solid, liquid, and gas.

The primary type of Mischungsveränderung is melting, where a solid transforms into a liquid. This happens at the melting point and requires the absorption of energy, known as the latent heat of fusion. Conversely, freezing is the process where a liquid turns into a solid, occurring at the same temperature as melting but releasing energy.

Another significant Mischungsveränderung is vaporization, the transition from a liquid to a gas. This can occur through evaporation, which happens at any temperature on the surface of a liquid, or boiling, which occurs throughout the liquid at its boiling point, absorbing the latent heat of vaporization. The reverse process is condensation, where a gas transforms into a liquid, releasing heat.

Sublimation is a less common Mischungsveränderung where a solid directly transitions into a gas without passing through the liquid phase. Dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) is a classic example. The opposite process, deposition, involves a gas directly changing into a solid, such as frost forming on a cold window. These transformations are reversible and depend on temperature and pressure conditions.
