Mikroporeisitea

Mikroporeisitea is a rare mineral species discovered in 2015. It is a secondary mineral found in the oxidized zone of the Kyzyltash copper deposit in the Pamir Mountains, Tajikistan. The mineral was named after its microscopic pore structure, which is a unique characteristic of the species.

Mikroporeisitea crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system and typically forms as small, colorless, prismatic crystals. Its chemical composition is (Cu,Zn)2(OH)3Cl, indicating that it is a copper and zinc hydroxide chloride. The mineral's structure is characterized by its microporous nature, with pores measuring approximately 0.3 nanometers in diameter.

The mineral's formation is believed to be the result of the oxidation of primary copper and zinc minerals, followed by the incorporation of chloride ions from the surrounding environment. Mikroporeisitea is of interest to mineralogists and geologists due to its unique structure and the insights it provides into the processes of mineral formation and oxidation in ore deposits.

Despite its rarity, mikroporeisitea has been studied using various analytical techniques, including X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and infrared spectroscopy.
