Mbikombëtare

Mbikombëtare is an Albanian adjective meaning transnational or supranational. It describes actors, policies, or processes that operate across national borders or beyond the authority of a single country. The term is formed from mbi- (“over”/“above”) and kombëtar (“national”), with the feminine form mbikombëtare used to modify feminine nouns.

Usage and nuance: In political science, economics, and law, mbikombëtare is used to qualify entities and activities that involve several states or that function outside the direct control of a single nation. It is distinct from ndërkombëtar, which usually refers to relations strictly between sovereign states; mbikombëtare emphasizes cross-border scope or governance that transcends national boundaries, sometimes in reference to regional or international institutions with supranational features.
