Masudi
Masudi, full name Abu al-Husayn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad al-Mas'udi, was a prominent Arab historian and geographer of the Islamic Golden Age. He lived from approximately 896 to 956 CE. Masudi is best known for his monumental work, the 'Meadows of Gold' (ar-Rawd al-Mas'udi), a comprehensive history of the Islamic world and its neighbors. This work, along with his other writings, provides invaluable insights into the geography, culture, and politics of the medieval period. He traveled extensively throughout the Islamic world and beyond, gathering firsthand information from various regions. His works are considered a cornerstone of medieval historiography and geography.
