Marrakesch

Marrakesh is a major city in the Kingdom of Morocco. It is located in the center of the country, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Marrakesh is the fourth largest city in Morocco by population, after Casablanca, Rabat, and Fes. It is the capital of the Marrakesh-Safi region.

The city was founded in 1070 by the Almoravids. It was the capital of the Almoravid Empire from 1070 to 1147, and then the capital of the Almohad Caliphate from 1147 to 1269. Marrakesh was a major center of trade and culture for centuries. It was known for its handicrafts, particularly leather goods and textiles.

Marrakesh is a popular tourist destination. Visitors can also explore the Majorelle Garden, a botanical garden with a distinctive blue villa.

The climate in Marrakesh is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The city is a major economic hub for Morocco, with a significant tourism sector and a growing industrial base. It is served by Marrakesh Menara Airport, which connects it to numerous international destinations.
