Makrofágokként, meaning "as macrophages," refers to the functional state or role of a cell being that of a macrophage. Macrophages are a type of white blood cell that plays a crucial role in the immune system. They are found in tissues throughout the body, including the lungs, liver, spleen, and lymph nodes. Macrophages are characterized by their large size and their phagocytic abilities, meaning they can engulf and digest cellular debris, foreign substances, microbes, cancer cells, and anything else that does not have the proper cell surface proteins.

When a cell functions makrofágokként, it actively participates in innate immunity by engulfing pathogens and initiating inflammatory responses. They also contribute to adaptive immunity by presenting antigens to T cells, which are key players in recognizing and eliminating specific threats.
