Vertical launch spaceports are used by most space agencies and private companies for launching rockets and satellites.

Horizontal launch spaceports, on the other hand, are less common. They consist of a runway and a hangar for assembling and maintaining the spacecraft. The spacecraft is assembled horizontally in the hangar and then towed to the runway for launch. Horizontal launch spaceports are typically used for launching aircraft-like spacecraft, such as the Space Shuttle.

They also need to be located in areas with favorable weather conditions and minimal seismic activity to ensure the safety of launches.

Ground-based spaceports play a crucial role in the space industry, providing the necessary infrastructure and support for launching spacecraft. As the demand for space-based services continues to grow, the number and capabilities of ground-based spaceports are expected to increase as well.
