Maadoitusjärjestelyt

Maadoitusjärjestelyt refers to the grounding arrangements in electrical systems. Its primary purpose is to ensure safety by providing a low-resistance path for fault currents to flow to the earth. This prevents dangerous voltages from appearing on conductive parts of equipment that are not normally live. Proper grounding is crucial for protecting both people and equipment from electrical hazards.

There are several common types of grounding systems, often designated by letter codes like TN, TT, and IT systems. The TN system, for example, has the neutral point of the supply directly earthed, and the exposed conductive parts of the installation are connected to this earthed neutral. The TT system, in contrast, has the neutral point of the supply earthed, but the exposed conductive parts are connected to earth electrodes that are electrically independent of the supply earthing electrode. The IT system has all live parts insulated from earth or earthed through an impedance.

The choice of grounding system depends on various factors, including the type of electrical supply, the intended use of the installation, and relevant safety regulations. Effective grounding involves not only the main earthing electrode but also equipotential bonding, which connects all extraneous conductive parts to the earthing system. Regular inspection and testing of grounding arrangements are essential to confirm their integrity and effectiveness.
