Lümfivoos

Lümfivoos refers to the movement of lymph fluid throughout the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes that plays a crucial role in the body's immune defense and fluid balance. Lymph fluid, a clear to yellowish liquid, originates from blood plasma that leaks out of capillaries into the surrounding tissues. This fluid, now called interstitial fluid, bathes the cells, delivering nutrients and removing waste products.

As interstitial fluid enters the lymphatic vessels, it is called lymph. The movement of lymph, or lümfivoos, is a passive process, primarily driven by the contraction of surrounding skeletal muscles, changes in chest pressure during breathing, and pulsations of nearby arteries. Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a central pump like the heart. Valves within the lymphatic vessels prevent the backflow of lymph, ensuring unidirectional movement towards the heart.

Lümfivoos is essential for several bodily functions. It transports fats absorbed from the digestive system to the bloodstream. It also carries immune cells, such as lymphocytes, to lymph nodes where they can identify and fight off pathogens. Furthermore, the lymphatic system helps to drain excess fluid from tissues, preventing edema or swelling. Disruptions to lümfivoos can lead to fluid accumulation, impaired immune response, and other health issues.
