Lõigustest

Lõigustest refers to a concept in Estonian mathematics, specifically relating to geometric segments. A lõigus, in its simplest form, is a part of a line that is bounded by two distinct endpoints. It possesses a definite length but no width or depth, existing in one dimension. This fundamental geometric element is a building block for more complex shapes and constructions.

In a Euclidean space, a lõigus can be defined by the coordinates of its two endpoints. For instance, in a two-dimensional plane, a lõigus between point A (x1, y1) and point B (x2, y2) can be described by the set of all points P such that P lies on the line segment connecting A and B. The length of this lõigus can be calculated using the distance formula derived from the Pythagorean theorem.

Lõigustest play a crucial role in various areas of mathematics, including geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. They are used to define distances, construct triangles and polygons, and serve as limits in integration.
