Luftkilde

Luftkilde is a small coastal village located in Hvidovre Municipality, Copenhagen in Denmark. The name "Luftkilde" translates to "air spring" in English, which refers to a natural source of water that was believed to rise from the ground due to the pressure of the air. This natural phenomenon is now considered extinct, as the area's geology has changed over time.

The village of Luftkilde is situated on the island of Zealand, approximately 5 kilometers west of Hvidovre town center. The area is characterized by a mix of low-lying coastal dunes and small hills, with coastal wetlands and small streams. Historically, the local economy was based on agriculture and fishing.

The area around Luftkilde has been inhabited since pre-Christian times, with archaeological findings indicating the presence of a Bronze Age farm. Luftkilde is also mentioned in the 17th-century census of the Hvidovre parish records. The village's population has decreased over the years, with the most recent census showing a small but stable number of residents.
