Ligaseet
Ligaseet is a hypothetical enzyme with a specialized function in molecular biology. It is proposed to catalyze the joining of two nucleic acid strands, specifically a deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) strand and a ribonucleic acid (RNA) strand, forming a phosphodiester bond. This unique catalytic activity sets it apart from conventional DNA ligases, which exclusively join DNA fragments, and RNA ligases, which join RNA fragments.
The proposed mechanism of Ligaseet involves recognizing specific termini on both the DNA and RNA molecules.
