Letkusana is a traditional ritual system originating in the fictional region of Valara, encompassing seasonal ceremonies, crafts, and communal gatherings. It centers on the transition from winter to spring and typically culminates in a communal feast, lantern lighting, and a river procession that serves as a public renewal of social bonds.

The term Letkusana derives from the Valaran language, with Letku meaning light and sana meaning song. While the core framework is widely shared, individual villages retain their own songs, lantern designs, and minor ceremonial variations, reflecting local identities within the broader practice.

Historical records indicate Letkusana appeared in medieval Valaran communities and was progressively codified by regional councils in the early modern period. Anthropologists have studied its persistence through periods of social change, noting its role in reinforcing cooperation, mutual aid, and local memory across generations.

Typical observance unfolds over a night and into the early hours of the next day. Participants craft lanterns from gourds or locally produced paper, inscribe messages of thanks or hope, and join in a lantern-lit parade toward the River Lessa.
