Leotard
A leotard is a close-fitting, one-piece garment that covers the torso and typically extends over the shoulders and sometimes the arms, while leaving the legs exposed. It is designed to fit snugly to allow a full range of movement and to provide a smooth silhouette under other dance or athletic wear. Most leotards are sleeveless or have short sleeves, and they come in a variety of necklines. Common fabrics include lycra or spandex blends, nylon, polyester, and cotton blends, chosen for elasticity, comfort, and durability. Leotards are usually pull-on garments, though some designs may include zippers or hooks at the back for easier dressing. They are widely worn in dance, gymnastics, figure skating, and other performance arts, as well as in fitness contexts and warm-ups.
The garment is named after Jules Léotard, a 19th-century French acrobat who popularized the one-piece design
