Lacom

Lacom is a census-designated place in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, United States. It is located on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, approximately 35 miles northeast of New Orleans.

The area now known as Lacombe was settled primarily by French and German immigrants in the 18th century. The village was named after Gertrude "Lacôme" Foret, a French Creole woman who lived in the area and owned property on the lake. Over time, the name "Lacôme" was shortened to "Lacombe" and eventually became the modern-day Lacom.

Lacom is a small, unincorporated community, but it serves as a gateway to the surrounding regions. The St. Tammany Parish line runs along the edges of the community, which also adjoins the nearby Honey Island Swamp and Tammany Trace trail.

The area's economy is driven by tourism, fishing, and commerce. Many locals earn their living through fishing, boating, and commercial property. A marina, a seafood restaurant, and a few shops serve the local community and cater to visitors.
