LNGterminálok

LNGterminálok, or Liquefied Natural Gas terminals, are facilities used for the import or export of liquefied natural gas. LNG is natural gas that has been cooled down to a liquid state at approximately -162 degrees Celsius (-260 degrees Fahrenheit). This process significantly reduces its volume, making it easier and more economical to transport by sea.

LNG terminals typically consist of several key components. These include regasification units, which heat the LNG back into its gaseous state so it can be fed into the natural gas pipeline network, or liquefaction units for export terminals. Storage tanks are essential for holding the LNG, and these are usually double-walled and heavily insulated to maintain the extremely low temperatures. Loading and unloading arms are used to transfer LNG between ships and the terminal.

Import terminals receive LNG from specialized carriers and convert it back to a gaseous state for distribution. Export terminals liquefy natural gas and load it onto ships for transport to other markets. These facilities play a crucial role in the global energy trade, allowing countries to access natural gas resources from distant locations and contributing to energy security and diversification. The development of LNG terminals has facilitated the widespread use of natural gas as a cleaner-burning fuel alternative to coal and oil.
