LBNF
The Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility, or LBNF, is a proposed neutrino experiment that aims to study neutrinos and antineutrinos. It is planned to be located at Fermilab in Illinois and will utilize a massive detector situated a mile underground at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in South Dakota. The experiment will send an intense beam of neutrinos from Fermilab, through the Earth, to the detector at SURF, a distance of about 800 miles or 1,300 kilometers, which is the longest distance for any neutrino experiment of its kind.
