Kõhuorganid

Kõhuorganid refers to the organs located within the abdominal cavity of the human body. This cavity is a large space that extends from the diaphragm in the chest down to the pelvic brim. The abdominal organs are primarily responsible for digestion, excretion, and some endocrine functions.

Key organs within the abdomen include the stomach, which receives and digests food; the small intestine, where most nutrient absorption occurs; and the large intestine, which absorbs water and electrolytes and forms waste. The liver, a large organ, plays a vital role in metabolism, detoxification, and producing bile. The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile. The pancreas produces digestive enzymes and important hormones like insulin.

Other significant abdominal organs include the spleen, which is part of the immune system, and the kidneys, which filter waste from the blood and produce urine. The adrenal glands, located on top of the kidneys, produce essential hormones. The abdominal cavity also houses parts of the reproductive system and the aorta, the body's largest artery. These organs are protected by the abdominal wall muscles and the lower ribs.
