Kérdését

Kérdését is a Hungarian noun form meaning “his/her/its question” used when referring to a specific question belonging to someone and functioning as the definite direct object of a sentence. It combines the base noun kérdés (question) with a third-person singular possessive suffix and the definite accusative ending.

Morphology and usage. The form kérdését results from attaching the 3rd person singular possessive suffix -e to kérdés and then adding the definite accusative suffix -t, with vowel harmony producing the sequence -ét. This pattern marks both possession (someone’s question) and definiteness (the particular question in view). Forms with other possessors exist (for example, plural possessors), but kérdését specifically signals a singular, third-person possessor.

Examples. The form is common in formal and everyday Hungarian. For instance: A tanár megválaszolta a kérdését. (The teacher answered his/her question.) Ő nem értette a kérdését. (He did not understand his/her question.) In discourse, kérdését clearly points to a specific question belonging to someone.
