Kytkentäkatkaisu, often translated as circuit breaker or disconnection, refers to the intentional or unintentional interruption of an electrical circuit. This interruption stops the flow of current, which can be a safety measure, a normal operational step, or a consequence of a fault.

In electrical systems, a circuit breaker is a primary device designed to protect electrical equipment from damage caused by overcurrent or short circuits.
