Ksara

Ksara, also known as Château Ksara, is a wine estate and winery located near Zahle in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. It is one of the country’s oldest and best‑known wine producers and has played a central role in Lebanon’s modern wine industry.

The winery was established in the 19th century by Jesuit priests who introduced wine production to support pastoral activities and local commerce. Over time, Château Ksara expanded its vineyards and winemaking operations, becoming a leading name in Lebanese viticulture.

A distinctive feature of the estate is its extensive limestone cave, carved into the hillside to form a natural underground cellar. The cave houses aging vats and barrels and provides a cool, stable climate that supports maturation. It is also a popular site for tours and tastings.

Château Ksara produces a range of wines, including red, white, and dessert varieties. The vineyards yield grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, and Chardonnay, among others.

Today the winery continues to operate as a leading wine producer in Lebanon, attracting visitors from the region who come to tour the cellars, learn about the country’s viticulture, and sample its wines.
