Common applications include longitudinal studies where participants are followed over extended periods, or within-subjects experimental designs where the same participants experience all experimental conditions. Analyzing repeated measures data requires specific statistical techniques, such as mixed-effects models or repeated measures ANOVA, to account for the correlation between measurements from the same individual. The primary advantage is increased statistical power and the ability to study intra-individual variability. However, potential drawbacks include practice effects, fatigue, or carryover effects from previous measurements.
