Konstantrateperiode

Konstantrateperiode is a term used in science and engineering to describe a time interval during which a process proceeds at a constant rate. The Danish words konstantrate (constant rate) and periode (period) reflect this meaning: a konstantrateperiode is a segment of time in which the rate of change of a quantity remains unchanged.

Mathematically, if a quantity Q(t) changes at a constant rate r during a period from t0 to t1, then Q(t) = Q0 + r (t − t0) for t0 ≤ t ≤ t1, and the instantaneous rate dQ/dt equals r. This implies a linear relationship between the quantity and time during the interval. In practice, the konstantrateperiode is identified when time-series data show an approximately straight-line progression, and the slope r is obtained by linear regression.

Contexts and examples. The concept is used across disciplines.
