Kondensaattorikytkentä refers to the way capacitors are connected in an electrical circuit. There are two primary configurations: series and parallel.

In a series connection, capacitors are connected end-to-end, forming a single path for current. The total capacitance in a series circuit is less than the smallest individual capacitance. The voltage across each capacitor is inversely proportional to its capacitance, and the total voltage is the sum of the individual voltages.

In a parallel connection, capacitors are connected across the same two points, providing multiple paths for current. The total capacitance in a parallel circuit is the sum of the individual capacitances. The voltage across each capacitor is the same, and the total current is the sum of the currents through each capacitor.

The choice of connection depends on the desired total capacitance and voltage rating for the circuit. Series connections are used to increase the overall voltage rating or to achieve a smaller capacitance than any single capacitor can provide. Parallel connections are used to increase the total capacitance. Mixed configurations, combining both series and parallel arrangements, are also common to achieve specific circuit characteristics.
