Kohusesse

Kohusesse is not a standard, widely recognized word in Estonian. In formal Estonian, the illative form meaning movement into a location is typically kohtusse, used with verbs of motion to indicate going to the court. Therefore kohusesse is usually treated as a nonstandard or erroneous variant, possibly arising from typographical mistakes, regional variation, or confusion with other illative forms.

Etymology and grammar: The noun koht means “court,” and the standard illative suffix for indicating “into” or “to” a place is -usse, producing kohtusse. The illative case answers questions like “where to?” and is used with verbs of motion to express going into a location, such as “ta läks kohtusse” (he/she went to court).

Usage and notes: In proper Estonian writing, sentences conveying going to court should use kohtusse, for example, “Ta läks kohtusse.” When referring to an action occurring inside a court as a location, other grammatical forms or prepositional phrases are used. While kohusesse may appear in informal writing or as a misspelling, it is not regarded as correct standard Estonian.
