Klassenproblem

The Klassenproblem, or class problem, is a central concept in Marxist theory, referring to the inherent conflict between the ruling class and the working class within a capitalist society. This conflict arises from the economic structure of capitalism, where the means of production are privately owned, and workers are employed to produce goods for profit.

The ruling class, or bourgeoisie, owns the factories, machinery, and other resources necessary for production. They invest their capital in these means of production and hire workers to operate them. The workers, or proletariat, sell their labor power to the bourgeoisie in exchange for wages. This exchange creates a fundamental inequality, as the bourgeoisie appropriates the surplus value generated by the workers' labor, while the workers receive only a fraction of this value in the form of wages.

The Klassenproblem is not merely an economic issue but also a political and ideological one. The ruling class maintains its power through various means, including legal and political institutions, which serve to protect its interests and suppress those of the working class. The working class, in turn, seeks to overthrow the ruling class and establish a classless society where the means of production are collectively owned and controlled.

Marxist theory argues that the resolution of the Klassenproblem is essential for the realization of communism, a society without classes, where the free development of each person is ensured. The struggle between the ruling class and the working class is seen as a necessary and inevitable part of the historical process leading to this goal.
